Project REHAB attended the 12th Annual Conference on Environmental Science (ACES 2024) held on November 6–8, 2024 at Palawan State University in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. The conference was organized around the theme “Environmental Diplomacy and Negotiations through Open Science: Learning from Community Actions’ Successes and Opportunities.”
Throughout the conference, discussions focused on how open science and community-based initiatives can support environmental decision-making and cooperation across sectors. Sessions covered a range of topics related to environmental governance, sustainability, and the practical challenges faced by researchers and practitioners working in different ecological and social contexts.
Project REHAB researchers presented poster presentations featuring ongoing components of the project’s environmental research, particularly on microbial communities of the Butuanon River. These presentations provided opportunities discussion with fellow researchers and practitioners which allowed exchange of ideas and insights that are relevant to the project’s future activities.
Attendance at ACES 2024 allowed Project REHAB to direct its research within broader national conversations on environmental science and policy while also building connections with researchers and institutions engaged in similar work.
